MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir Digital): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has established a notification for new selection committees for recruitment across various departments and has officially defined their powers and responsibilities. This decision comes as part of an effort to streamline the hiring process and ensure merit-based selections.
The Supreme Court issued an order which mandated the government to create selection committees after it published the official notification by March 25. The new directive establishes transparency throughout recruitment procedures to avoid any form of misbehaviour.
Various selection committees receive designated responsibilities for filling vacant positions based on their categorization and grade levels according to the notification. The committees charged with overseeing recruitment tasks will maintain vigilant inspections of recruitment procedures under their assigned areas of authority.
Committee Structure and Responsibilities Admin departments send representatives to serve on the selection committees to maintain recruitment balance. The committees have been categorised based on the nature of the posts:
Grade 15 and Above: The committee responsible for recruiting candidates in this category will be led by senior government officials, including representatives from the relevant department and the Public Service Commission.
Grade 10 to 15: This committee will function under departmental oversight, ensuring that candidates meet the required qualifications and experience criteria.
Grade 1 to 9: For lower-grade positions, the respective departments will handle recruitment, focusing on efficiency and merit.

The notification also states that recruitment will be conducted strictly according to the guidelines laid out by the government, and any violations could result in disciplinary action against those responsible.
The AJK government has prioritized establishing selection committees because they seek to create recruitment procedures that are fair and transparent. The government has established structured hiring procedures to solve problems of unfair preference in the appointment process while selecting qualified people for public service positions.
All attention will be directed at the Supreme Court submission deadline while monitoring if these committees strengthen recruiting procedures in Azad Kashmir.
