MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Food Authority Muzaffarabad seized a large consignment of unregistered substandard ghee and oil while setting up a checkpoint at Bararkot.
The raid was conducted by a team of Food Authority Muzaffarabad, led by District Food Controller Abrar Ahmed Mir.
According to the official, the authority is committed to providing quality food to the public, and no one will be allowed to compromise on human lives.
On the occasion, the District Food Controller warned that strict action would be taken against those who fail to implement the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the Food Authority. Mir emphasized that traders selling substandard and unhealthy food items will not be given any concessions, and strict action will be taken against them.
The seizure of substandard ghee oil is part of the authority’s ongoing crackdown on adulterated food items.
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Food Authority Act 2017 prohibits the trading of unregistered food items, and the authority is determined to enforce this law, he said.
The official added that no items can be sold except those approved by the Food Authority. “The crackdown is ongoing, and such items will be stopped by setting up checkpoints in every possible way.”
