MUZAFARRABAD (Kashmir English): In a move to provide quality and healthy food to the residents, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Food Authority has issued the list of banned snacks, beverages, oil and ghee brands.
This development comes after the food authority lab tested several packaged items in the market and sealed them due to their poor quality.
According to the notification issued by the National Institute of Health (NIH), packaged items sold at the local market places including children snacks contain unhealthy elements which are not suitable for human health.
Banned Snacks
According to the list issued several products of the Nice Food Industry have been completely banned in Azad Kashmir including products named Tasto Chilli Munch Snacks, Tasto Hot Bite, Imli Pops, Crunch Corn Snacks, Chotri Sticks Snacks.
Furthermore, the Nice Food Industry also lacked any license from the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Food Authority.
Following all aforementioned violations, the food safety offer Azad Kashmir imposed a fine of Rs1,00,000 on the company for violating Section 28 (Unsafe Food) and Section 33 (Business without license) of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Food Authority Act, 2017.
In addition, a ban has been imposed on the sale of all these products (Tasto Chill munch snacks and Tasto Hot bite snacks) within Azad Kashmir.
The order has directed all the food safety officers to test other products of the company and send report to the Secretary Food Authority.
Other companies who faced ban include Max Food whose snacks like Pumpum Chatkhara Snacks, Crunchi Nachoes, Fir Fir Snacks, Gup Shup Snacks.
Banned Oil and Ghee
Additionally, the AJK Food Authority has been working to curb substandard oil and ghee brands from the month of Ramadan and has sealed several oil and ghee under multi brand names like Kainat Super Canola (Faisal Oil Refinery ), and Shahi Banaspati ( M/S Fahad Hammad Oil & Ghee).
