MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Election Commission of Azad Kashmir has approved the registration of two new political parties; Muslim Conference and Jamaat-e-Islami, while the registration of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Party will be discussed in the next meeting.
A meeting of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Election Commissioner, which was attended by members of the Election Commission, the Secretary of the Election Commission, and other officers.
In the meeting, the action plan for the general elections was approved. Under the action plan, delimitation, preparation of electoral rolls, and registration of political parties for the elections to be held in July 2026 are included.
In the meeting, the documents submitted by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference and Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir regarding registration were reviewed in light of the law.
Subsequently, the Election Commission approved the registration of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference and Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir as political parties with the Election Commission.
The official notification for the registration of both parties has been issued.
PTI registration issue postponed
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Party, and other political parties that had submitted their documents for registration to the Election Commission, will be presented before the commission on Wednesday.
It should be noted that the registration of political parties in Azad Kashmir was suspended due to a court decision.
