MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Citizens of Azad Jammu and Kashmir have expressed mixed views over the reported imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with some describing the move as commendable while others consider it a measure taken under pressing circumstances.

Citizens said the deteriorating law and order situation and rising incidents of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were matters of serious concern, requiring effective and timely action by the authorities.

Some citizens attributed the situation to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government’s performance, arguing that it had failed to deliver satisfactory governance and ensure the provision of basic public amenities.

Others maintained that the provincial government and relevant institutions had been unable to implement an effective strategy to curb terrorism, further complicating the security situation.

However, citizens stressed that any emergency measures should focus on restoring law and order, eliminating terrorism and protecting the lives and property of the public rather than escalating political confrontation.

They urged the federal and provincial governments to set aside political differences and work together to develop an effective strategy for lasting peace and stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Citizens emphasized that public safety and the restoration of normalcy should remain the foremost priorities, with all measures aimed at delivering tangible improvements in the lives of the people.
