MUZAFFARADBAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) cabinet on Wednesday approved the issuance of health cards, reviewed the progress made in the implementation of the agreement signed with the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), and approved the restoration of discretionary funds of ministers.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of the AJK, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, and was attended by cabinet members, the chief secretary, and secretaries to the government.
According to the government’s Press Information Department (PID), the cabinet also approved relaxation of the age limit for government employment for the brother of Shaheed Sajjad Resham, while compensation (mawazat) was also approved for the heirs of Zahid Qureshi, who was martyred in Bagh.
The cabinet meeting approved the approval and transfer of Khalsa Sarkar Land Haveli for the establishment of Danish School Haveli, and the decoration (finishing) expenses for Gemstones Center of Excellence.
Furthermore, the meeting also approved the formation of a committee comprising government ministers Syed Bazil Ali Naqvi, Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, Chaudhry Arshad, and Chief Secretary Khushal Khan to sort out the issues of the Healthcare Hospital Mirpur.
Moreover, the cabinet also approved the establishment of co-educational institutions up to the primary level in remote areas of Azad Kashmir, where separate primary school buildings are not available according to the ratio of boys and girls.
Addressing the meeting, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore said that the government is giving top priority to public welfare, education, health, and development projects.
“The full implementation of the agreement reached with the Awami Action Committee will be ensured, and the government is serious and determined to solve public problems,” he said.
The AJK premier said that reforms in the health sector were inevitable, with the issuance of health cards, the common man will have direct access to quality treatment facilities. He said that new development projects and initiatives in the energy sector will promote sustainable development in the state.
The Prime Minister further directed the concerned departments to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the cabinet decisions.
At the end of the cabinet meeting, the resolution presented by the Minister of Information Chaudhry Muhammad Rafiq Bayer to express strong condemnation of the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, the illegal imprisonment of Hurriyat leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, the serious human rights violations being committed by the Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, congratulations on the successful preparation of the Pakistan Air Force’s defense system “Taimour”, and to pay tribute to the Pakistan Army for the successful heli-rescue operation in Leepva Valley was unanimously approved.
