MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): District administration Muzaffarabad Tuesday night foiled an attempt to occupy state land near Neelum Bridge.
The administration not only took stern action against the land mafia but also demolished the constructions.
According to details, on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Usman Mumtaz, late on Tuesday night, administrative officer Hamad Bashir, SHO Police Station Saddar Naveed-ul-Hassan, and Tehsildar Muzaffarabad Qamar Aziz, in a joint operation, demolished illegal constructions on government-awarded land along the roadside.
Land mafia’s activities
The administration also confiscated the belongings of the land mafia.
Administrative officers stated that strict action against the land mafia will continue with constitutional means.
“Encroachments are unacceptable anywhere in the city. Strict action will be taken against those who seize government land under the law.”
It is to be recalled that the land mafia reigns supreme everywhere in the state capital Muzaffarabad, and influential individuals have occupied several canals of government land, including along the river, at many places.
During last Ramadan, an attempt was made to occupy land in Neelum Park under the guise of establishing a cheap market, which was strongly protested by citizens, and as a result, the market was dismantled.
Furthermore, due to encroachments everywhere, the traffic system in the capital is disrupted.
