The meeting noted the US President’s offer to mediate on the Kashmir issue, and the committee will formulate a joint plan of action with the government, opposition, and Hurriyat Conference.

The committee decided to organize all-party conferences in all provincial headquarters of Pakistan and seminars in refugee constituencies to raise awareness about the Kashmir issue.

Assembly Speaker Latif Akbar emphasized that a solution to the Kashmir issue is necessary for lasting peace in South Asia. He highlighted India’s unilateral measures and human rights abuses in occupied Kashmir.

It was also decided in the meeting that the Legislative Assembly Committee will organize all-party conferences in all provincial headquarters of Pakistan, and seminars will be organized in all constituencies of refugees residing in Pakistan. The meeting also considered issues related to refugees of 1989 living in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

Addressing the meeting, the Chairman Committee said that a solution to the Kashmir issue is necessary for lasting peace in South Asia. He said that India, through its unilateral and illegal measures of August 5, 2019, separated parts of Kashmir and Ladakh, while imposing a puppet administration through fake elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
