MIRPUR (Kashmir English): In a major breakthrough, the Mirpur Police has arrested the accused involved in the extortion of Rs6.5 million from a Jatlan citizen, Raja Zafar Iqbal, in the name of the United Kingdom’s (UK) visa.

As per details, a notorious agent, Hafiz Mehmood, was arrested from the Jatlan Police checkpost in the Mirpur district.

The fraudster promised the victim, a resident of Gegan Musa, Bhimber, to secure a UK student visa for his son, but instead, he prepared fake documents, banning the child for ten years, and fled with the money.

The Jatlan police registered the first information report (FIR) on the request of Raja Zafar and intimated an investigation into the case after the arrest of the accused from Mirpur.

According to details, Hafiz Mehmood, son of Maqbool Ahmed, operates as part of a group that targets unsuspecting individuals with false promises, cheating them out of their hard-earned money.

This arrest serves as a warning to those involved in such scams, and the authorities are urged to take strict action against these perpetrators. The incident highlights the need for vigilance and awareness among the public to avoid falling prey to such fraudulent schemes.
