MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK), Muzaffarabad, has declared a holiday on Tuesday, April 22, in all three campuses in the city.

The announcement came after the Students Action Committee announced a protest tomorrow, which the UAJK administration has already rejected.

“Academic activities at Chehla Campus, City Campus, and King Abdullah Campus shall remain suspended on Tuesday, 22 April 2025,” the varsity said in a notification.

Furthermore, it added that all administrative offices shall remain open and will continue to function as per routine.

Apart from that, the university Registrar has also issued a letter to the Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad, seeking reasonable security arrangements to maintain a peaceful environment amid the planned protest.

The letter added that the ‘Students Action Committee’, under the guise of this protest, can disturb the peaceful academic environment.

“Therefore, necessary steps are being taken for the security of the university to maintain the peaceful academic environment of the university,” it added.

A week earlier, a clash took place between two groups of the Students Action Committee, as a result of which students opened fire on each other in the city campus of the varsity.

As per details, no FIR or action has been taken so far against these two groups by the administration.
