KOTLI (Kashmir English): Kotli district administration has declared a public holiday in Khuiratta Tehsil on April 17 (Thursday) in view of the annual Urs of Mai Toti Sahiba.
According to the notification issued by the Kotli Deputy Commissioner’s Office, a large number of devotees from across the country, including Azad Kashmir, are expected to participate in the annual gathering.
The notification stated that for the convenience of the pilgrims, a local holiday will be observed on April 17, 2025, in the Khuiratta Sub-Division.
The shrine of the saint is located in Pandli Sharif, around 38km away from Kotli city. The annual Urs of Mai Toti Sahiba is observed every year in June with great religious zeal and fervour.
As per details, the saint died on the 15th of Ramadan 1931. Her father Hazrat Sain Kamal Badshah gave saint the name, Mai Toti Sahiba.
She used to observe meditation for several hours in the nearby Nullah of Baur Shana. Thus, she spent the major part of her life in prayer and meditation (Chilla). It is said that she spent sixty years alone in the forest and desolated herself to seek the favour of God.
