Council of Islamic Ideology to hold 109th, farewell session in Muzaffarabad

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The 109th session of the Council of Islamic Ideology of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), which also marks the farewell meeting of the current council, is set to take place under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of AJK and Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology, Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan.

According to a press release issued by the council, the meeting will be held tomorrow at the Conference Hall of the Supreme Court Building in Muzaffarabad. The Prime Minister of the Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, will attend the session as the chief guest.

The session will be hosted by important council members such as Mufti Syed Kifayat Hussain Naqvi alongside Maulana Saeed Yousuf Khan and Maulana Sahibzada Peer Muhammad Habib ur Rehman Mehboobi together with Maulana Muhammad Altaf Hussain Saifi and Maulana Qazi Mahmood ul Hassan Ashraf and Maulana Mufti Muhammad Arif and Maulana Mufti Muhammad Hussain Chishti and Maulana Qari Muhammad Azam Arif.

In addition to the council members, secretaries of various government departments and other relevant officials will also be present during the proceedings. The meeting is expected to serve as a platform for reflection on the council’s past work and to formally bring the current term to a close.

The Council of Islamic Ideology in AJK serves as an essential institution that provides direction to lawmakers when developing legislation through Islamic teachings. The council over time, has guided the interpretation of Islamic principles in order to strengthen Islamic values within the AJK legislative structure.

The conclusion will be marked by addresses together with acknowledgments for the departing council members who receive appreciation for their dedicated work. The council faces an essential transitional period where members expect institutional changes and new appointments during the upcoming days.

The ceremony brings dual importance for legislative guidance of the future together with its ceremonial meaning for the region.
