SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): In yet another reflection of BJP-led Indian government’s ongoing hostility towards Pakistan and its increasing politicization of education, the Modi-led government has ruled out any possibility of reconsidering its advisory prohibiting Indian nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) with medical degrees from Pakistan from seeking employment or higher education in India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the statement was made by the Indian government in response to a question raised by Agha Ruhullah Mehdi, a Member of Parliament from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), in the Lok Sabha.

Medical Commission notice

Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Health and Family Affairs, reaffirmed that the National Medical Commission’s public notice dated April 28, 2022, remains in effect.

However, the Minister for State said that candidates enrolled in Pakistani medical colleges before December 2018 or those who obtained security clearance from the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) are eligible to appear in India’s Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) or pursue employment in the country.
