MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has issued orders to retire the Social Welfare Officer Saeed Assad. The reason for this issue is cited as his involvement in activities that go against the state and national interest. However, instead of terminating his employment as a harsher punishment, the decision to retire him was made, reportedly on humanitarian grounds.

According to the official notification issued on March 25, 2025, an inquiry was conducted to determine if the alleged accusations of misconduct were true or not. The results revealed Assad’s involvement in actions that were deemed dangerous and detrimental to the interests of the state. Under normal circumstances, such actions lead to severe, harsh punishment. But this time, the authorities opted for compulsory retirement instead of something severe, considering the humanitarian factors.

An inquiry report was compiled after a detailed investigation. According to the report, sufficient information was found to label evidence of misconduct. Standard procedures were used to review the problem under the relevant service rules and regulations. Given the seriousness of the allegations against Assad, the implementation of a major penalty was considered by the administration.

Yet after some consideration, the authorities opted for a more humanitarian approach, despite having evidence of the severe activities that go against the state and national interest. The decision to retire him was made, and this decision ensured that Assad would no longer hold a government position. Though it also takes into account humanitarian considerations, which may include his years of service, personal circumstances, or other factors.

The formal retirement orders have been issued via an official notification, and all relevant departments have been notified. This decision serves as a caution to other government officials, encouraging them to maintain professional integrity while also showing a rather mild and calculated approach to disciplinary actions.

Although the notification does not include specific details about the exact nature of the misconduct, it does reinforce the government’s commitment to responsibility. The administration urges all government employees to adhere strictly to their duty and avoid any acts that might compromise the national and state interests.
