MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has officially announced three-day public holidays for the observance of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, which is expected to fall on March 31.

The AJK government’s Services and General Administration Department issued a notification in this regard with the approval of President Azad Kashmir.

As per details, the public holidays will be observed from March 31 to April 2, 2025 (Monday to Wednesday) allowing citizens to observe the festivities and celebrate the occasion.

Earlier, the federal government also announced the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays from March 31 to April 2.

A notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat stated that the prime minister has declared these dates as public holidays in celebration of Eidul Fitr.

On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has predicted that Eid al-Fitr will likely fall on March 31.

The final confirmation of Eid’s date will depend on the sighting of the Shawwal moon, which will mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan for the year 2025. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with zonal committees, will call on the evening of Sunday, March 30 (Ramadan 29) to observe the moon and make an official announcement as per the sightings.

The meeting will take place at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, where religious scholars, meteorological experts, and other stakeholders will evaluate moon sighting reports from across the country.
