JEHLUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): District Health Officer Dr Tahir Raheem Mughal chaired a joint meeting in Jhelum Valley where Lady Health Supervisors and Visitors reviewed their performance, discussed improvements, and introduced a structured patient referral system for better healthcare.
A joint meeting of Lady Health Supervisors (LHSs) and Lady Health Visitors (LHVs) was held under the chairmanship of District Health Officer (DHO) Jhelum Valley, Dr Tahir Raheem Mughal. The meeting brought together key officials, including Raja Sajid Azeem Khan, the focal person for the Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (MNCH) programme, Zafar Iqbal, the focal person for the Lady Health Worker Programme, Dr Faheema, the focal person for the MMS programme, and Farakhunda Qayyum, the acting ADC for the Lady Health Worker Programme.
During the session, Dr Tahir Raheem Mughal conducted a thorough review of the performance of all Lady Health Supervisors and Visitors across the district. Each centre was required to present its progress report, and those showing unsatisfactory performance were instructed to organise Antenatal Care (ANC) counselling sessions to improve service delivery.
The referral system adopted a structured approach for patient care delivery by Lady Health Workers. The new procedural system enables Lady Health Visitors to provide care to patients who healthcare professionals refer to the health centres. Referred patients need to go to the District Headquarters Hospital while notification of their condition will go to relevant authorities to enable quick medical help.
Dr Tahir Raheem Mughal declared that any carelessness in duty work would face serious consequences. The district head focused on combined action to boost health service quality throughout all facilities while instructing Lady Health Supervisors and Visitors to join forces for enhanced healthcare results.
The meeting leader declared that next month would bring another follow-up session to evaluate the development of each health facility. The healthcare service improvement together with the best medical care delivery for the community united all participants as meetings concluded. This meeting is a step in ensuring the availability of quality health care throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
