KUALA LUMPUR (Kashmir English): In a positive move, the Pakistan national hockey team has been confirmed to participate in the third season of the FIH Hockey Nations Cup 2025.

This development will be a great opportunity for the Pakistan Hockey team to prove its worth at the international level and regain its lost prestige in the world of Hockey.

The tournament is perplexed to take place in Kuala Lumpur between June 15 and 21, with eight teams competing to enter the elusive space in the 2025-26 FIH Hockey Pro League.

A total of eight countries will participate in the FIH Hockey Nations Cup. Countries confirmed by the International Hockey Federation include Pakistan, France, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Wales.

This comes as a positive relief for Pakistan hockey, which has met with many hurdles lately. The FIH Hockey Nations Cup came about in the year 2021 intending to provide high-level competition outside the FIH Pro League for teams not playing in the Pro League, with the winning side being given a chance to promote.

Once the powerhouse of international hockey, Pakistan hopes to use the big preview platform to sail back to its former prestige.

The first two editions of the FIH Hockey Nations Cup were won by South Africa in 2022 and New Zealand in 2024. The tournament promises tough competition while also being a gateway to earning a place in the FIH Pro League, and thus Pakistan will be itching for a good show in Kuala Lumpur.
