ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan is observing Eid-ul-Azha today here on Wednesday, with people gathering for congregational prayers, carrying out animal sacrifices, and making fresh appeals for peace, while many prayed that the US-Israel tensions with Iran would ease up a bit.

The day started with big Eid congregations at mosques and Eidgahs, where neighbors kinda hugged each other, exchanged Eid greetings right after prayers, and it felt pretty warm and close.

Later on, families went ahead with the animal sacrifices, shared the meat with relatives, and gave portions to the poor as well. During the next hours, people kept coming together for traditional meals, almost like a routine of remembrance and comfort.

Alongside that, special prayers were offered for the country’s security, economic steadiness, and the safety and well-being of Muslims dealing with fighting and humanitarian crises, not only nearby but across the world.

Religious scholars, during their Eid sermons, talked about the meaning of sacrifice, being together, and mercy, and they reminded everyone to look after those who are underprivileged throughout these three religious days, which people spend in faith and reflection.

Prime Minister, FM Asim Munir Extend Eid-ul-Azha Greetings

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Field Marshal Asim Munir have sent Eid-ul-Azha greetings to the nation, and also to the wider Muslim Ummah, with messages focused on faith, sacrifice, togetherness, and compassion, amid rising tensions across the Middle East.

PM Shehbaz said the day mirrors the lasting principles of faith, self-giving, tenderness, and selflessness shown by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS). He urged citizens to keep the underprivileged in mind, share the celebrations of Eid with those who need help, and further strengthen unity, brotherhood, and service to humanity in a practical way.

He also voiced solidarity with oppressed Muslims in Palestine and in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and prayed for peace, harmony and prosperity for everyone.

President Zardari said Eid-ul-Azha is a steady reminder of obeying Allah, along with patience, sincerity, and sacrifice, adding that real victory depends on piety, public service, and empathy more than wealth or power.

Quoting the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), he said, “The most beloved of people to Allah is the one who is most beneficial to people,” and he went on saying, “He is not a complete believer who eats his fill while his neighbour beside him goes hungry.”

He said sacrifice can’t be whole without including the deprived, orphans, widows, labourers, disabled people, and other underprivileged communities, and he called for national unity, tolerance, dialogue, rule of law, and public service.

Meanwhile, Field Marshal Asim Munir, with the Air Chief and Naval Chief, also extended Eid greetings, as per the military’s media wing. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the armed forces prayed for enduring peace, prosperity, and national unity, and reaffirmed their resolve to guard Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
