LAHORE (Kashmir English): Pakistan is likely to host a four-match series against South Korea in the last week of June ahead of the hockey World Cup.
The national squad will return from the FIH Pro League tour to Europe. National team’s head coach Manzoor-ul-Hasan Senior said that the negotiations for the proposed series are in final stages between the Pakistan Hockey Federation and its South Korean counterpart.
According to the initial plan, two games each will be held in Lahore and Islamabad.
The Green Shirts are scheduled to play the third leg of their Pro League matches against Belgium and Spain in Belgium and against England and India in England from June 13 to 27.
After the Pro League, the side will be featuring in the 16-nation World Cup from August 15 to 30 in Belgium and the Netherlands. Pakistan will be returning to the World Cup after a gap of eight years.
The national side are competing in the Pro League for the very first time since its inception in 2019.
Pakistan, 12th in FIH world team rankings, were invited to this season’s Pro League by the FIH after New Zealand, ranked 11th, opted out owing to financial constraints.
Pakistan’s Hockey World Campaign
Pakistan, placed in a highly competitive Pool D, will start its campaign at the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup on August 15 in the Netherlands.
They will face England in their opening match before playing Wales and arch-rivals India.
