MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Muzaffarabad Police on Tuesday denied reports circulating on social media that arrest warrants have been issued for core members of the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC), including Shaukat Nawaz Mir.
The Awami Action Committee claimed that the arrest warrants have been issued for Shaukat Nawaz Mir, Anjum Zaman Awan, Raja Saeed Javed, Raja Saeed Ahmed, Syed Hafeez Hamdani, Sahibzada Khalid Waqas, and other members of the JAAC in cases registered in connection with September 29, 2025.
However, the Muzaffarabad Police spokesperson denied the claim, saying that they have not initiated action against any member of the Awami Action Committee on vindictive grounds.
“Some people are spreading false and baseless propaganda against the government and administration on various social media platforms to mislead the public,” the police said.
The spokesperson said that there is no truth in the news circulating on social media regarding this.
“The aim of some elements in spreading such fabricated and false news in the media is simply to defame the administration and police, spoil the peaceful environment of Muzaffarabad, and make the public insecure,” he said.
The police urged the public to refrain from being a part of any such activity by proving themselves to be responsible citizens and never sharing or making any news viral on social media without verifying it.
“Immoral behavior on social media is unfounded; strict legal action will be taken against those sharing and spreading posts under the prevailing law,” the statement reads.
JAAC reaction
The action committee core member, Shaukat Nawaz Mir, on the other hand, said that the arrest warrants are a violation of the agreement reached between JAAC and the government.
“If any worker of the JAAC is harassed or an attempt is made to arrest him, the action committee will impose a complete lockdown of the state before June 9,” Mir said in a video statement.
