ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Islamabad Traffic Police has fully transitioned its driving license issuance process into a paperless system.

The new system was formally inaugurated by Inspector General (IG) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, in the presence of Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Work and other senior officials.

During the ceremony, the IG conducted a detailed review of the newly established digital counters and issued directives to ensure smooth implementation of the system.

Speaking on the occasion, Rizvi said the initiative aims to facilitate citizens and save their valuable time. He noted that previously, applicants were required to submit multiple documents, including medical forms, photographs, and photocopies, which has now been completely eliminated.

“Under the new system, citizens will no longer need to provide additional documents or photocopies. The entire licensing process, from medical assessment to issuance, has been digitized,” he said.

The IG appreciated the efforts of the CTO and his team for completing the project in a short time, terming it a commendable achievement.

He further announced that the driving licenses fee payment system will also be fully digitized in the near future.

Officials said that citizens can now obtain a driving license by simply presenting their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC), calling it a significant move toward a modern, efficient, and citizen-friendly system.
