PM Shehbaz chairs high-level meeting to review security situation

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting to review regional and Pakistan’s security situation in the wake of regional developments.

The meeting thoroughly reviewed the regional and geopolitical situation, according to a press release issued by the Prime Minister office.

It said the meeting discussed Pakistan’s role and various measures for establishing peace in the region.

The situation in Afghanistan was also carefully reviewed during the meeting.

The participants of the meeting were also briefed on the country’s internal situation and security arrangements.

The meeting reviewed measures for the evacuation of Pakistani citizens from Iran. Detailed briefing was given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their safe return.

Security of Pakistani citizens in Iran

The evacuation of Pakistani citizens from Iran is being facilitated through Azerbaijan, the meeting was told.

The meeting was attended by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces; Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Mohsin Naqvi, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahad Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and senior civil and military officials.
