MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Hotels, Restaurants, Guest Houses, and Marriage Halls Azad Kashmir Joint Action Committee hosted a reception in Muzaffarabad on February 19, 2025, where participants unanimously rejected Act 2021, opposed non-state institutions in AJK, and demanded fair electricity tariffs and land protection.

The Hotels, Restaurants, Guest Houses, and Marriage Halls Joint Action Committee organized a reception party on February 19 to celebrate the core committee members of the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee and hospitality sector representatives participated in the event throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The participants unanimously argued against the Act 2021 and demanded its immediate repeal in the meeting. All attendees at the meeting opposed the establishment of any institution using Green Tourism as a front. The government received definitive warnings about permitting such organizations to establish operations inside AJK.

The conference members adopted a resolution to ban every stateless organization and individual from purchasing or leasing land throughout AJK. Local interests need strict regulatory oversight of all transactions involving land within AJK according to the participants.

The committee required hospitality facilities to implement electricity prices according to their agreement with the Joint Public Action Committee. The committee proposed that businesses should receive their electricity bill payments in 36 instalments to make financial management easier.

The Hotels, Restaurants, Guest Houses and Marriage Halls Joint Action Committee chose to keep fighting until every demand in the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee’s charter received complete satisfaction. Every member declared their dedication to work together until their concerns reached all levels of representation for the hospitality sector. The Committee gave assured backing to address hospitality industry problems.

The group will actively work together to resolve the industry’s problems through participatory activities and lobbying efforts. The meeting brought together participants who dedicated themselves to defending the area’s financial and social values against all actions that could harm its population.
