NEW DELHI (Kashmir English): India has suffered a major setback ahead of the crucial match against Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Indian team opener Abhishek Sharma has not yet fully recovered due to a stomach infection, and his participation in the Pakistan-India match scheduled for Colombo on Sunday is doubtful.
According to Indian media reports, Abhishek Sharma’s health deteriorated after eating something after a net session in Mumbai on February 6.
His condition was not satisfactory in the match against the United States either; however, he decided to play for the team but was out on the first ball and failed to show any significant performance.
Later, he reached New Delhi with the team for the match against Namibia, where the stomach infection intensified and he had to be admitted to the hospital.
He was discharged from the hospital on Thursday, but as a precautionary measure, he was not included in the match against Namibia.
At the toss against Namibia, Indian captain Surya Kumariyadev confirmed that Abhishek is not fully fit and may miss one or two more matches. After this statement, his chances of participating against Pakistan look slim.
India will play their next match against Pakistan on February 15 in Colombo, which is being considered the biggest match of Group A.

The highly anticipated match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 (Pak vs Ind) is likely to be affected due to rain.
The crucial Group A match between Pakistan and India in the T20 World Cup is scheduled for Sunday, February 15, in Colombo.
The expected rain in Colombo has possibly put a question mark on the match.
According to various reports from the Meteorological Department, there is a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms on the day of the Pakistan-India match, while 2.1 mm of rain is expected in the city around 6 pm.
If the match is washed out by rain, then both Pakistan and India will be given one point each. The Pakistan team is in first place in Group A with 4 points after winning both its matches in the T20 World Cup.
