ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday told the Supreme Court that party founder Imran Khan has been left with only 15 per cent vision in his right eye.
PTI counsel Salman Safdar submitted a seven-page medical report in court today, which stated that Khan was diagnosed with a blood clot that caused severe damage, causing him to lose partial vision.
“Despite the treatment administered (including an injection), he [Imran Khan] has been left with only 15pc vision in his right eye”, Safdar quoted Imran as saying.
Imran further said that he subsequently suffered a sudden and complete loss of vision in his right eye, following which an ophthalmologist from Pims Hospital, Dr Muhammad Arif, was called to examine him.
Salam further added that he personally observed that Khan appeared “visibly perturbed and deeply distressed by the loss of vision and the absence of timely and specialised medical intervention”.
“Throughout the meeting, the Petitioner’s eyes were watery, and he repeatedly used a tissue to wipe them, reflecting physical discomfort,” the report stated.
Khan further told Barrister Salman Safdar that for nearly three months, the only treatment he received consisted of eye drops, which “failed to improve his condition and ultimately led to a major impairment of vision in his right eye.”
Additionally, Imran noted that despite being 73 years old and requiring dental consultation, no dentist had examined or treated him over the past two years, despite repeated requests.
The PTI founder told Safdar that his personal physicians, Dr. Faisal Sultan and Dr. Asim Yusuf, had previously been allowed access; however, repeated requests for medical consultations were ignored.
During the meeting, Imran maintained that, given his age, he requires regular blood tests, which were also not conducted.
Following the medical report, the Supreme Court ordered the formation of a medical team to examine Khan’s eye and directed that Imran be allowed to speak to his sons, Kasim Khan and Sulaiman Khan.
The court said that the eye inspection and the phone calls should be ensured by Monday, February 16.
Imran Khan’s Daily Report
Salman Safdar has also submitted a report to the Supreme Court, describing the daily routine of former Premier Imran Khan in Adiala Jail.
The report gives details about his health, daily routine, facilities provided to him in jail, and more.
As per the report, Imran Khan usually takes breakfast at around 9:45 am, which includes a cup of coffee, porridge, and a few dates. He also recites the Holy Quran from approximately 11:30 am for about an hour.
“He then exercises using the equipment available in the cell, including an exercise bike, two 9-kilogramme weights, and a bar,” the report said, adding that around 1:15 pm, he is allowed to go for a walk in a secure compound after he is done with his bath.
“Lunch is taken between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm, and at 5:00 pm, he is again allowed a brief walk. From approximately 5:30 pm until 10:00 am the following morning, he remains confined to his cell,” it added.
Imran stated that for lunch, the weekly meal plan is selected by him and is self-financed by his family, comprising two days of chicken, two days of meat, two days of lentils (daal), and/or two days of ‘chaat/snacks.
He further stated that bottled drinking water is available to him. As for dinner, Imran said that he does not take a full meal and instead consumes fruit, milk, and dates.
