NEW DELHI (Kashmir English): The Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has been hospitalized with a stomach infection, which makes him uncertain for the upcoming match against Namibia in Delhi that will take place on Thursday.
According to an Indian media report, Abhishek Sharma has been hospitalized for two days with a severe stomach infection.
A BCCI source said that Abhishek Sharma has been admitted to a private hospital in Delhi because of a stomach infection. The medical team performs tests to determine the patient’s health condition.
The patient’s status will remain unknown until his discharge from the hospital today. The match against Namibia currently appears unlikely to happen. Abhishek, who scored a first-ball duck during the USA T20 World Cup match for India, had a stomach issue.
Ryan ten Doeschate, India’s assistant coach, confirmed that the batter was recovering from a stomach bug after he failed to walk out to the field during the USA’s unsuccessful pursuit of runs in Mumbai. Ten Doeschate explained that “Abhi still has a few issues with his tummy.

The two-day time frame makes us optimistic that he will become available for the upcoming game. The entire T20I batting system for India depends on Abhishek.
In the absence of Abhishek for the Namibia game, India can start Sanju Samson, who lost his first-choice wicketkeeper-batter position to Ishan Kishan after performing poorly against New Zealand in their previous month.
Ten Doeschate explained at the press conference that we are monitoring Abhi’s fitness because it will create new player combinations. Jasprit Bumrah will make his return to the Indian team for their Thursday game against Namibia after missing the USA opener because of an illness.
He participated in Tuesday’s Delhi training session, where he demonstrated his complete bowling skills. Washington Sundar has joined the team after he recovered from the side tear that occurred during the New Zealand series.
