KARACHI (Kashmir English): The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Monday decided to keep the interest rate unchanged and announced maintaining it at the existing 10.5 per cent for the next two months.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, SBP Governor Jameel Ahmed said that the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) observed that headline inflation of 5.6 percent y/y in December 2025 was in line with its expectation.

According to the Monetary Policy Statement, the committee noted that the trade deficit has widened in the wake of a substantial increase in imports, particularly import volumes, and a decline in exports.
