ABBASPUR (Kashmir English): A high-stakes joint rescue operation is underway in the rugged corridor between Abbaspur and Farooq Gate.

Under the cover of darkness, emergency teams faced a daunting challenge: 77 civilians were stranded across three isolated locations, trapped by conditions that had cut them off from safety. The mission was a race against time.

At site 1, located roughly 6 km from Abbaspur, rescuers successfully reached a group of 30 individuals. The survivors were quickly evacuated and provided with local accommodations.

Seven kilometers from Abbaspur at site 2, another 25 people were pulled to safety, with teams working through the early morning hours to ensure their local adjustment and care.

Most challenging rescue operation

The most remote challenge lay 10 km from Abbaspur at site 3. There, 22 individuals had sought refuge inside a forest check post. As of just after midnight rescue parties were actively moving toward their position to bring them home.

By the early hours of January 24, officials confirmed all 77 individuals are safe. The swift coordination of the rescue teams has sparked widespread appreciation across social media.
