MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Amid the severe cold and snowfall, the authorities have announced school holidays for two days in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and northern areas.

According to details, the administration has announced to keep all public and private educational institutions closed for 2 days due to heavy snowfall in AJK.

Intermittent snowfall continues in the high mountain areas of Azad Kashmir, including Hatian Bala, Chunari, Chakothi, Lipa Valley, Ganga Choti, Arang Kel, and Sargan Valley.

Heavy rain, snowfall, and blizzards have severely disrupted normal life in the northern areas of the country as several roads are closed, trapping tourists and isolating many areas.

Traffic accidents occurred in various areas due to snow and slippery roads, resulting in two people being reported dead and several others being injured.

The snowfall is also continuing in Balochistan, stranding vehicles on the Quetta-Ziarat Highway and N-50. More than 100 tourists are stranded in Chaman.

About 100 vehicles are stranded on the roads due to heavy snowfall and rain in the Tirah Valley. The temperature at Kojak Top has dropped to minus 12 degrees Celsius.

Heavy snowfall is also occurring in the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mansehra, Galiyat, Shangla, Lower Dir, Mohmand, Kalam, Orakzai, Chitral, and Khyber.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, 2 to 3 feet of snow fell in the upper areas of Astor, which blocked all land routes and trapped residents in their homes. Life has also been affected due to heavy snowfall in Hunza and Nagar.
