Heavy rain, snowfall disrupts life in upper parts of country

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Heavy rain, snowfall, and blizzards have severely disrupted normal life in the upper reaches of the country. Tourists were stranded due to road closures, and traffic accidents occurred in various areas due to snow and slippery roads, resulting in two people being reported dead and several others being injured.

The Meteorological Department has predicted rain and snowfall in various areas today as well. Several vehicles collided due to slippery roads near Shilabagh, killing two people and injuring seven others.

Heavy snowfall was also recorded in the districts of Mansehra, Abbottabad, Upper Galiyat, Shangla, Lower Dir, Mohmand, Kalam, Orakzai, Chitral, and Khyber of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Parachinar recorded the highest snowfall in its 50-year history, while the tourist areas of Abbottabad have also been receiving heavy snowfall since last night. Nathiagali, Ayubiya, Janspur, and Changla Gali were covered with a white sheet of snow.

4 feet of snowfall was recorded in Nathiagali, Ayubiya, Janspur, and Changla Gali, while up to 3 feet of snowfall was recorded in Ayubiya, Abbott Rescue 1122 district administration said.
