MIRPUR (Asif Iqbal): A sudden fire broke out at Ghausia Furniture Shop in Pindi Sabarwaal village near Jatlan, a town in Mirpur district, on Tuesday, gutting furniture worth millions of rupees.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire erupted suddenly and quickly engulfed the entire shop, leaving little time to save the goods.

Residents and shopkeepers rushed to the scene and made desperate efforts to extinguish the flames using water and other available resources from nearby houses and shops in an attempt to prevent the fire from spreading further.

Residents alleged that Rescue 1122 and the fire brigade were informed repeatedly, but despite continuous calls, the fire brigade reportedly reached the spot after nearly an hour.

Due to the delay, the fire could not be brought under control in time, and the shop was completely gutted.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident; however, the financial loss is said to be very high.

The affected shopkeepers and residents of the area have expressed deep concern and anger over the delay of the rescue department and have demanded that the incident be investigated and a prompt and effective response be ensured to deal with such incidents in the future.

The causes of the fire are not yet known; however, an investigation has been launched by the relevant authorities.
