ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Player Auction Model for PSL 11 has been disclosed by the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is going to return in March 2026.

The league embraced the new auction format instead of the traditional Player Draft system. By this change, PSL aims to enhance the competitive balance, make the process of team building more open, and provide players with more earning opportunities.

The franchises can keep a maximum of four players under the new system, but only one player retention will be allowed in each category. In the past, teams were allowed to retain up to eight players and also avail of the provisions for mentors, brand ambassadors, and the Right to Match (RTM) mechanism.

But these rules are now set aside for PSL 11. The PSL has also come up with a franchise pathway for new ones. Before the auction, the new teams can choose and keep four players from the available pool.

Moreover, every franchise can directly sign one international player who hasn’t played in PSL 10, in addition to the picked players. This move permits teams to lure new talent from overseas apart from the auction. To give an edge to the league’s competitive and commercial aspects, the PSL has upped the player salary cap to $1.6 million per team.
