Strong magnitude 6.0 earthquake tremors felt in Islamabad, surrounding areas

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A very strong earthquake of magnitude 6.0 happened in the early hours of Monday, January 19, 2026, and affected the nearby regions of Pakistan.

The epicenter was reported to be at 06:21 GMT (10:21 AM). It was located 445 km (276 miles) away from Osh, Kyrgyzstan, at a depth of 35 km (22 miles), making it very likely that it was experienced by the people living in the vicinity.

There are reports that some people in the towns near the epicenter felt the shaking, but as of now, no damage or injuries have been reported. The authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation and have advised the public to be prepared for aftershocks.

It has been reported that the tremors of the earthquake were felt in many places, including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Hunza, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa such as Peshawar.
