ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are expected to be reduced in the next fortnight review, providing much-needed relief to consumers.

As per details, the government is likely to decline petrol price by Rs4.59 per litre, from Rs253.17 to Rs248.58 per litre.

High-speed diesel (HSD) is projected to drop by Rs2.70 per litre, from Rs257.08 to Rs254.38, while kerosene oil may be lowered by Rs1.82 per litre, bringing its price down to Rs169.06.

The development came after global oil prices showed a downward trend in recent days. On January 11, the international price of petrol fell by $2.74 per barrel, declining from $69.27 to $66.54 per barrel. The petrol premium also dropped by $0.13 per barrel to $5.01.

The projections are based on prevailing local price assumptions, with Premium Motor Gasoline (PL+CL) at Rs82.12 and HSD (PL+CL) at Rs77.91.
