MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Excise Department of Azad Kashmir has announced that the department is preparing to introduce a modern online computerized system for registration of vehicles and payment of motor tax across the state.

According to the Commissioner Excise, under this system, owners will be able to register vehicles and pay motor tax online instead of visiting excise offices and banks.

Furthermore, in a press release, he said that owners of vehicles whose motor tax has not been paid by June 30, 2026, are directed to pay all their arrears by January 15, 2026.

After the mentioned date, vehicle owners will also have to pay a fine for their arrears under the automated system.

Officials say that through the online system, tax payment receipts, vehicle records, and other facilities will be available to citizens on a single platform, while in the future, this system will be further improved, and facilities like smart cards and digital verification will be added.

The Commissioner Excise AJK, said that this initiative is an important step towards digital governance in Azad Kashmir, which will not only increase government revenue but also restore the confidence of citizens.
