Azad Kashmir welcomes over 1.5 million tourists in 2025

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has received more than 1.5 million tourists during the outgoing year 2025, despite the severe weather conditions during the monsoon season.

According to the AJK Department of Tourism, more than 1.5 million tourists visited the plains and mountainous areas of Azad Kashmir during the current year 2025, while this number is expected to increase significantly by the end of June 2026.

New tourist destinations are also being introduced to promote tourism, the tourism officials said.

The paradise-like Kashmir became the center of attraction for tourists all over the world due to its lush green mountains, dense forests, picturesque waterfalls, flowing rivers, and historical sites.

Every year, millions of domestic and foreign tourists visit different areas to see the natural beauty of Azad Kashmir.

According to the Director General of Tourism and Archaeology, Chaudhry Meharban, adventurous tourists visit the Leepa Valley, Neelum Valley, Ganga Choti, and other snow-capped mountainous areas during the snowfall season.

The increasing influx of tourists is also significantly increasing employment opportunities for the local population.

According to officials, work is underway to promote tourism as well as improve facilities so that tourists can be provided with a safe and pleasant environment.
