SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has reaffirmed that Kashmir remains the core issue for achieving lasting peace between Pakistan and India, emphasizing that the final status of Jammu and Kashmir must be determined by Kashmiris through a United Nations-supervised plebiscite.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar said that for over seven decades, India has systematically obstructed every peaceful path to resolve the dispute, violating the internationally recognized right of Kashmiris to self-determination.
“Seventy-eight years on, India continues to trample UN-mandated resolutions, pushing South Asia into extreme militarization and nuclear brinkmanship,” he said.
Minhas called on the UN Security Council to enforce its own resolutions on Kashmir without delay and urged the international community to compel India to resolve the dispute in line with UN directives.
Human Rights violations in occupied Kashmir
He stressed that accountability must be pursued and the Modi-led regime held responsible for war crimes and human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
“The ongoing occupation, repression, and demographic engineering in Kashmir not only violate international law but also threaten regional peace,” APHC spokesman added, asserting that a just and fair settlement of the Kashmir dispute is essential to secure long-term stability in South Asia.
