KHUIRATTA (Kashmir English): The forests of Manjual, Karjai, and surrounding villages near Khuiratta in Kotli district have been burnt for more than 36 hours now.
As per the details, the Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries Department of the AJK government has not even tried to extinguish the fire. The people have appealed to the forest department to take notice of their negligence.
Trees worth millions of rupees have been burnt to ashes with rare species of birds and animals have also been burnt to death. The forest department has not been able to extinguish the fire yet.
Hafiz Sajid-ur-Rehman, Imam of Masjid-ul-Fatima Manjual, reached the Khuiratta Press Club. Hafiz said that the fire had been burning in the forests of Manjual, Harjai, and surrounding villages for several hours.
“The department has remained a silent spectator. The department has not yet tried to extinguish the fire,” he said.
He demanded the higher authorities to take notice and put resources into extinguishing the fire.
