LAHORE (Kashmir English): Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi, has announced the prize money for the 11th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11).

Mohsin Naqvi said that the franchises will be awarded a huge prize money from the next edition of the PSL.

The PSL champion team will be awarded $500,000, while the runners-up team will get $300,000.

The Chairman PCB said that $200,000 will be given to the best franchise in cricket development, let’s take Pakistan cricket to new heights.

It should be noted that 8 teams will be included in the Pakistan Super League Season XI instead of 6.

The auction of the two new teams will be held on January 6. Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Gilgit, and Muzaffarabad are among the possible cities.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the decision regarding two new cities for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises will be made after December 15.

The announcement comes amid rumours that the names have been finalised by the national cricket body.

Last week, PSL confirmed that two new franchise teams would be named from among Hyderabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Sialkot – names of Pakistani cities.

“The PCB refutes news circulating in the media regarding the finalisation of the two city names for the new HBL PSL franchises.

The PCB would like to clarify that, as per the process, the successful bidders will have the right to choose a team name from any of the city/team names (…) in the manner outlined in the bid documents,” the PCB said in a statement on Thursday.

“The PCB is pleased to note and welcomes the growing interest in the acquisition of team franchise rights for two new teams for future editions of the HBL PSL.”

PSL began in 2016 with five teams

PSL, which began in 2016 with five teams, expanded to six with the addition of Multan Sultans in 2018.

The inclusion of two more sides would mark its first major restructuring in seven years and push the total number of teams to eight.
