It should be noted that the Commonwealth is an organization comprising 53 countries. Most of these countries are those that were formerly colonies of the British Empire. The affairs of the Commonwealth are managed through consultation among member countries.

The foundation of the Commonwealth was laid when, after the beginning of the twentieth century, the sun of the British Empire began to set and the colonies started to gain independence.

The basis of the current Commonwealth is the 1949 London Declaration, which considers all member countries equal and independent.
