ABU DHABI (Kashmir English): The holy month of Ramadan is likely to start in United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday, February 19 next year, according to the Emirates Astronomy Society.
It said crescent moon marking beginning of the holy month will appear on February 17.
According to preliminary astronomical calculations by the Emirates Astronomy Society, Ramadan will begin in the UAE on Thursday, February 19, 2026, exactly 138 days from today.
The society’s chairman explained that the new crescent moon that marks the beginning of Ramadan will appear on Tuesday, February 17, at 4:01pm UAE time. However, it will set only one minute after sunset, making sighting impossible that evening.
As a result, the first day of Ramadan is expected to be on Thursday, February 19, pending official confirmation from moon-sighting committees.

He further said temperatures in Abu Dhabi are expected to range between 16°C and 28°C early in the month, influenced by lingering northern winter winds, before rising to 19°C to 32°C by the end of Ramadan, when spring weather patterns and westerly winds typically begin to emerge.
