ABU DHABI (Kashmir English): Sri Lanka has defeated Bangladesh by 6 wickets in the fifth match of the T20 Asia Cup 2025 on Saturday.

In the match being played at the Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Sri Lanka won the toss against Bangladesh and decided to field first.

Sri Lanka achieved the target in 14.4 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Patham Nissanka was the standout for Sri Lanka with a score of 50 runs.

Kusal Perera returned to the pavilion with individual scores of 9, Kusal Mendis 3, and Dasun Shanaka 1 run.

Kamil Mishara remained not out with 46 runs, and captain Charith Asalanka scored 10 runs.

Earlier, Batting first, Bangladesh scored 139 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Shamim Hossain and Zakir Ali stood out for Bangladesh by scoring 42 and 41 runs not out respectively. The two batsmen put on an unbeaten partnership of 86 runs in difficult times to take the team to a reasonable total.

Captain Liton Das made 28, Mehidy Hasan 9, Tohid Hardoy 8, while Parvez Hossain Iman and Tanzeed Hasan returned to the pavilion with individual scores of 0.

For Sri Lanka, Winindu Hasaranga took 2 wickets while Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chimera took 1 wicket each.
