MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A flood warning has been issued in Muzaffarabad district as the water level is continuously rising in the Neelum River due to the cloudbursts in Neelum and the suburbs of Muzaffarabad.
Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad has warned those living near the river to move to safer places and avoid going to the riverbanks.
The water flow in the Neelum River continues to increase, with a current discharge of 1000 cusecs from the Noseri Dam, and a further increase is possible, authorities said.
The advisory added that drains flowing into the Neelum River have overflowed, exacerbating the flood situation.
DC Muzaffarabad, in an advisory, said that families living near the river are at risk of being affected by the flood, and arrangements have been made to shift them to safer locations.
It added that affected families will be shifted to Jinnah Pilot High School Lower Plate, and Ali Akbar Awan High School Chhatar. “Citizens are advised to contact the district control room in case of any emergency,” the advisory reads.
