MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A new spell of rain is likely to begin across Azad Kashmir from today (Sunday).

According to the State Disaster Management Authority of Azad Kashmir, a new spell of rain is likely to begin in all districts of Azad Kashmir from July 27 to 31.

SDMA states that the rain spell may intensify on July 28, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected in some upper areas. It has advised travelers, especially tourists, to be cautious.

The Disaster Management Authority says that strong winds could damage weak infrastructure, including trees, electricity poles, and solar panels.

Fifth spell of monsoon rains in Punjab!

Meanwhile, an alert has been issued for the fifth spell of monsoon rains in Punjab from July 28.

According to the PDMA spokesperson, rains are expected in most plain districts of Punjab from July 28 to 31.

The PDMA spokesperson has warned of potential urban and flash flooding, landslides in hilly areas, and damage to weak or poorly constructed buildings.

Rain is forecast in Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, and Okara.

Between July 29 and 31, rain is also expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Vehari, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, and Rajanpur.

Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed has directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to remain on high alert. Emergency control rooms and Rescue 1122 disaster response teams have also been put on high alert to deal with any emergencies.

He noted that the province has recorded 73 percent more rainfall this year compared to the same period last year, and urged all relevant departments to be fully prepared.
