Food Authority recovers huge quantity of donkey meat from Islamabad

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In a major crackdown, the Islamabad Food Authority has seized a large quantity of donkey meat and more than 50 donkeys during a raid in Islamabad’s Tarnol area.

The Food Authority’s spokesperson stated that approximately 1,000 kilograms (25 maunds) of meat was recovered during a raid.

Deputy Director of the Food Authority, Dr Tahira Siddique, has ordered the immediate registration of a case against those involved. A foreign national present at the scene has been taken into custody.

She said that the food authority officials are disposing of the donkey meat as part of the standard procedure.

She said that investigations are ongoing to determine which areas the meat was supplied to and the broader network behind the distribution of the donkey meat.
