BHIMBER (Kashmir English): DC Bhimber, Chaudhry Haq Nawaz, chaired an important meeting on Monday to review law and order, department responsibilities, and preparations for Muharram across the district. The meeting aimed to ensure peace and religious harmony during the holy month.

During the session, DC Bhimber announced a foolproof security plan for all Muharram processions and gatherings. Key decisions included implementing the National Action Plan, setting up a control room, appointing focal persons, and monitoring social media for any misinformation or hate speech.

The DC emphasized that all processions will follow their traditional routes and all religious gatherings (majalis) will continue as per previous schedules. He also directed the police to carry out search and sweep operations and assigned police magistrates to maintain order throughout the events.

Praising the peaceful atmosphere of Bhimber, DC Bhimber highlighted the positive role of local religious scholars in maintaining unity among communities. He urged all departments to perform their duties responsibly and cooperate fully for a smooth Muharram.

The meeting began with a recitation of the Holy Quran by District Information Officer Adnan Mukhtar. SDM Muhammad Aeesa Baig provided a full briefing on departmental readiness. Other participants included SDM Barnala Zeeshan Khan, DHO Dr. Iram Batool, MS Dr. Muhammad Mansoor, DSPs Khawaja Abdul Qayyum and Muhammad Naseer Khan, Rescue Incharge Muhammad Zubair, and senior officials from public health, electricity, revenue, and municipal departments.

DC Bhimber also stressed the need for strict monitoring of individuals listed under the Fourth Schedule, as well as zakireen (religious speakers). Authorities were directed to ensure full compliance with the Loudspeaker Act and Rent Act, with legal action to be taken against those spreading false information on social media.

It was decided that the Department of Information would set up a control room in Bhimber, while the Assistant Commissioner would serve as the focal person. The revenue officer will monitor relevant WhatsApp groups for timely coordination. All departments, including health, rescue, and utilities, were instructed to remain on high alert.
