BELFAST, Northern Ireland (Kashmir English): Grace Chambers, from Northern Ireland, at the age of 97, became the oldest person in Europe to complete 250 park runs.

The former teacher achieved this milestone by completing the 5,000-metre course at South Belfast’s Ormeau Park.

Remarkably, the Northern Ireland lady participated in the event only four weeks after undergoing keyhole heart surgery. Despite the medical setback, she took part in the run on Saturday and surprised many with her performance.

After finishing the course, Chambers said she was delighted to have completed the challenge.

She further said that although there had been a chance she might not manage it, she always thinks positively and continues trying until she succeeds. Chambers is now the Europe’s oldest Parkrunner to complete 250 runs.

Ormeau Park

Owned and run by Belfast City Council, Ormeau Park is the oldest municipal park in Belfast. It was officially opened to the public in 1871 and is one of the largest and busiest parks in the city. It contains a variety of horticulture, woodland, wildlife and sporting facilities.
