MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s security forces successfully stopped a major infiltration in North Waziristan by terrorists along the Pak-Afghan border, killing 54 terrorists during a major operation in the Hassan Khel area, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.

The ISPR stated that the terrorists were trying to enter Pakistani territory to launch attacks. However, the security forces acted swiftly and foiled the plan before it could cause any damage.

During the operation, a large stock of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was also recovered from the dead militants, ISPR said. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, during a press conference, called it a “big day” for Pakistan’s forces.

He shared that intelligence reports had warned about a group of terrorists planning to enter Pakistan from North Waziristan into Hassan Khel on the night of the 26th and 27th.

Naqvi explained that the terrorists were kept under close watch and allowed to move into a controlled area. Once they entered the designated zone, Pakistani troops surrounded them from three sides and killed 54 of them in a carefully planned operation.

The minister also mentioned that security forces had earlier received information about the presence of the terrorists’ handlers inside Pakistan. This led to stricter security measures along the Pak-Afghan border.

“Acting on secret information, strict steps were taken at the border, and our brave forces managed to eliminate the threat,” Naqvi said.

The ISPR assured that Pakistan’s forces remain alert and are fully prepared to stop any threats that could harm the country’s peace and security.
