17 demands of Joint Awami Action Committee met, says Amir Muqam

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Amir Muqam has claimed that out of 37 demands of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) agreement in Azad Kashmir, 17 have been fully implemented.

Speaking to the media here alongside Federal Minister Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Muqam said that a key public demand has been fulfilled by limiting the cabinet size to 20 ministers.

He said that suspended employees have been reinstated and compensation and jobs have been provided to the families of those killed in the September 3, 2025 incidents, with over Rs120 million paid to the families of eight individuals.

The Federal Minister further stated that 177 FIRs registered against protesters have been withdrawn, property tax reforms have been implemented on the lines of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and tendering for transparent installation of electricity meters has been completed.

He said that the accountability system has been implemented according to NAB laws and work is underway to resolve the issues of Mangla Dam affectees. Tenders have been issued for the rehabilitation of Gulpur and Rehman Gulpur bridges, while two new education boards have been approved in Muzaffarabad and Kotli.

“Major Committee demands met”

Amir Muqam told media that three major health projects costing Rs9.9 billion have been approved, and a Rs10 billion-scheme for improving the electricity system is in its final stages.

The Kashmir Colony Water Supply Scheme is included in the ADP, five out of 10 district water supply projects have been completed, while work is ongoing on the remaining five.

He said that MRI and CT scan machines have been installed at the district level, work on Rs10 billion development funds is progressing rapidly, and a ministerial committee has been formed to resolve the issues of 12 union councils. The feasibility of Mirpur Airport is in its final stage, and the property rights policy will be presented in the next cabinet meeting, Muqam said.

Amir Muqam further stated that reforms in the Local Government Act are under consideration, a high-powered committee has been established for refugee seats, the number of Danish schools has been increased from three to five, and the establishment of Danish University has also been announced.
