MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): At least 11 civilians were martyred and 56 were injured last night, including 9 children, in areas of the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Kashmir, AJK Information Minister said.

Addressing the presser at the central control room in Muzaffarabad, AJK govt spokesperson Pir Mazhar Saeed said the civilian death toll has reached 17 due to the Indian unprovoked shelling on LoC.

Shah said a child under 10 is among the dead, adding that the relief cheques will be delivered to the heirs of 11 martyrs within 24 hours.

“Since the Indian missile attack on May 6, 18 civilians have been martyred and 125 have been injured in total,” he said.

The minister confirmed that 29 houses have been completely destroyed, while 206 houses have been partially affected in total, due to Indian shelling along the de facto border.

Furthermore, the information minister said that more than 300 people have been shifted to a safe place from the Bor area of ​​Neelum district.

Those who did not have alternative accommodation have been provided with space in private and state-owned guest houses.

In addition to that, Shah said that the press briefing will be given every morning at around 10 am till the conflict with India continues.
